Open to every part of tourism, at every scale.

The initiative started in the regenerative hospitality community, but it is open well beyond luxury. Any organisation whose work touches tourism and place can join.

Who should join

Six kinds of organisation, one shared route.

Every organisation follows the same route: review the Manifesto, sign the Adherence Instrument, then plan a 23 May action that fits its role.

Hotels & hospitality groups

Strengthen the relationship between hospitality, place, local communities and ecological systems.

From independent retreats to international groups.

What is regenerative luxury? →

Where to begin

  • Move a share of food purchasing to local producers, and publish the baseline.
  • Invite guests to a restoration day with a local conservation partner.
  • Open a paid apprenticeship for young people from the community.

Destinations & public institutions

Tourism boards, DMOs, ministries, regional and local authorities.

Where to begin

  • Hold an open community forum on the future of tourism in the destination.
  • Publish baseline indicators for water, local employment or visitor pressure.
  • Recognise and promote local artisans and producers.

NGOs & community organisations

Help bring local knowledge, conservation work and community priorities into the wider tourism conversation.

Conservation, cultural, community-based and civil-society organisations.

Where to begin

  • Run a habitat, coastline or watershed restoration activity.
  • Document traditional knowledge, with the community’s consent.

Universities & research institutions

Contribute knowledge, education, evidence and critical discussion.

Universities, hospitality schools, research centres and their students.

Where to begin

  • Host an open lecture or seminar on regenerative tourism.
  • Publish a case study or a data set on a local destination.
  • Set student projects that respond to a real need of a partner place.

Associations & industry organisations

Mobilise networks around a common commitment.

Hotel and tourism associations, professional networks and chambers.

Where to begin

  • Invite your members to sign and to register one action each.
  • Convene a peer session to share practices that work.
  • Publish a collective summary of members’ actions and lessons.

Other aligned organisations

Participate where tourism intersects with culture, nature, food systems, wellbeing and local prosperity.

Tour operators, regenerative initiatives, producers and aligned businesses.

Where to begin

Choose the action your place needs most from the eight families of action in the Global Manifesto.

Professionals, researchers, travellers: add your personal support.

The Manifesto is a shared commitment for organisations and individuals. If you aren’t signing for an organisation, register your personal support and help bring your employer, university or destination on board.

Add my personal support
  • Register your personal support for the Manifesto.
  • Choose locally owned stays, guides and producers.
  • Bring your employer, university or destination on board.

Is participation limited to luxury hotels?

No. The initiative was founded within the regenerative hospitality community, but the Manifesto speaks to tourism of every type and scale, and to organisations well beyond hospitality.
